Holger Teschke grew up on the Island of Ruegen and was trained as a ship´s engineer, studied Theatre Directing and Dramaturgy in Berlin from 1981 to 1985 and worked as Director, Dramaturg and Translator at the Berliner Ensemble from 1989 to 1999. From 2000 to 2009 he directed and taught as Guest Professor and Visiting Artist at Universities and Colleges and in Theatres in the United States, Australia and Asia. Since 2010 he teaches Theatre History and Dramaturgy at the Academy of Theatre Acting „Ernst Busch“ in Berlin. Teschke has directed and written about the work of William Shakespeare, Bertolt Brecht and Heiner Müller, and writes plays, radio plays and adaptations for theatre and broadcast. He lives in Berlin and on the Island of Ruegen.
