Ursprünglich aus Texas stammend, reicht sein Werk von zeitgenössischen amerikanischen Stücken über Uraufführungen neuer Stücke und konzipierter Werke bis hin zum klassischen Repertoire in englischer und deutscher Sprache. Sein Regiedebüt am Deutschen Nationaltheater in Weimar (DE) gab er 2014 mit Tracy Letts' Killer Joe, wo er von 2013-2015 Assistent der künstlerischen Leitung war. Killer Joe, ein Publikumsliebling, war drei Spielzeiten lang im Repertoire des Nationaltheaters Weimar. Von 2006-2012 lebte Bell in Chicago (US) wo er künstlerischer Leiter des Cabaret Vagabond und Ensemblemitglied und Literaturmanager der Adventure Stage Chicago war. 2012 wurde seine Weltpremiere von Tony Fiorentinos Stück The Feast für den Joseph Jefferson Award for Best New Play nominiert. Brian war 2011 Goethe-Institut Regie-Stipendiat und Step 8 Director in Residence am English Theatre Berlin (DE) und hat das Projekt G: A Theatrical Investigation of Happiness, in Tokyo & Fukushima (JP), entwickelt und gespielt. Seit 2015 ist er freischaffend tätig und inszeniert regelmäßig am Deutschen Nationaltheater in Weimar, am Staatstheater Meiningen, am Schauspiel Chemnitz, sowie am Stadttheater Ingolstadt. Die Ingolstädter Produktion Stella – Das blonde Gespenst vom Kurfürstendamm wurde 2018 für den Deutschen Musical Preis in der Kategorie „Bestes Revival“ nominiert. Er hat die Spielzeit 2019/20 in Ingolstadt mit dem Musical Black Rider eröffnet, die Uraufführung Freundliche Übernahme am Schauspiel Chemnitz entwickelt und die Produktion Rostam und Sohrab mit der KULA Compagnie realisiert. Zusammen mit Julie Paucker hat er sowohl Faith Hope & Charity (nach Horváth) an der University of North Texas (US), sowie auch die aktuelle Produktion Wandersterne, eine Romanadaption des an der Vagantenbühne Berlin erarbeitet.

Brian’s work ranges from contemporary American plays to the classical repertoire in both English and German. In 2014 he made his directorial debut at the Deutsche Nationaltheater in Weimar (DE) with Tracy Letts’ Killer Joe, where he was the assistant to the artistic director from 2013-2015. An audience favorite, Killer Joe was in the repertoire for three seasons and had its final performance in June of 2017. From 2006-2012 he lived in Chicago (US) where he was the artistic director of Cabaret Vagabond and an ensemble member and literary manager at Adventure Stage Chicago. In 2012 Brian's world premiere production of Tony Fiorentino's play The Feast was nominated for a Joseph Jefferson award for Best New Play. Brian is an alumnus of the International Forum of the Theatertreffen in Berlin, is a Goethe Institute Directing Fellow, and was the Step 8 Director in Residence at the English Theatre Berlin as well as having devised and performed in Projekt G: A Theatrical Investigation of Happiness, in Tokyo & Fukushima (JP). Since 2015 he was worked as a freelancer, directing regularly in Weimar, Staatstheater Meiningen, Schauspiel Chemnitz and Stadttheater Ingolstadt, where his production of Stella was nominated for a German Musical Theater Award for Best Revival of a Musical from the Deutsche Musical Akademie. The 2019/20 season began at the Stadttheater Ingolstadt with the Musical BLACK RIDER, followed by Hospitable Takeover, a devised piece at Schauspiel Chemnitz. He collaborated with Julie Paucker on the productions Faith.Hope.Charity at the University of North Texas (US) in February 2020 as well as Wandering Stars at the Vagantenbühne Berlin, coming summer 2021.
